Put your running shoes on and grab your javelin; the spring track season is underway! Spring Track is a sport that is unique among others; not only do you focus on one area, but running, shot put, triple jump, and more are offered to people with different strengths and weaknesses. Practice and meets are rigorous but worthwhile and the sport is fun overall! According to Sena Mensah, a senior who has done track all 4 years, “going to meets and making new friends” are some of the major highlights of the season. With the large amount of people that participate in this coed sport, feeling at home is no problem. Even if you did not join last year, it is never too late to experience this exciting sport! Alicia Nwandu, an athlete beginning this year, admitted, “I heard from several people that even though workouts can be rigorous sometimes, that it is a great program overall.” And not only are the athletes determined and the workouts beneficial, the coaches are willing to help you succeed. The coach of the girl’s team Mrs. Benfatti says, “This indoor track season we made a lot of improvements. I had girls who had a lot of personal records and I’m looking forward to seeing them continue to progress.” Practice starts on Monday, March 6. Good luck to our girls and boys for the 2017 season!
