A lengthy list on my favorite television shows to watch on Netflix that are definitely binge worthy…

1. Friends

Friends is an iconic 90’s TV show featuring six friends and their daily lives together. In this humorous series, you learn about the lives of Chandler Bing, Ross Geller, Joey Tribbiani, Monica Geller, Phoebe Buffay, and Rachel Green. While understanding each character’s background, we follow how they all interact with each other. With dating between the group and relationships being formed among the friends, another layer of emotional appeal is added to the entertaining humor within the show. Ross, Monica’s older brother, hangs out with his childhood best friend Chandler and aspiring actor Joey. Rachel returns to Monica as her old best friend from high school and hangs out with an eccentric Phoebe. This hilarious sitcom about a group of close-knit friends will never get old and can be easily be endlessly binged-upon. The short episodes can be replayed with funny re-lived jokes to surely put a smile across your face. As one of my favorite TV shows, I’d suggest you watch an episode!

2. Revenge

After her father is taken away from her and put in jail for terrorism he is not to blame for, young Amanda Clarke is put into foster care, and later juvy. With the help of her father’s old friend and her release from juvy at 18, Amanda learns that her father was truly not responsible and had been set up. Out for revenge, Amanda Clarke takes on a new identity as Emily Thorne. She heads back to the Hamptons where it all began to find the truth about who set up her father- and make them pay for it. In this new undercover identity, she must hide her past and prevent anyone from recognizing her, as she sets up this new life. This interesting TV series demonstrates the love for family and to hunt out the truth. Showing extreme determination and elaborate plans to set her father free, Emily creates fake relationships to discover the secrets everyone seems to be hiding. This intense mystery provides insight on brilliant lies and deceitfulness. I guarantee once you start trying to unravel this drama, you will have a difficult time trying to stop.

3. The Walking Dead

Many of you have probably seen or at least heard of The Walking Dead, yet another increasingly addictive TV show. Based on the menacing thought of a zombie apocalypse, Rick Grimes wakes up from a coma in hospital filled with the undead. With no clue on what occurred while in the hospital, he has to adjust the new world and try to survive. After seeing that his family is nowhere to be found Rick runs into survivors that help him out on his journey to find his wife and son. With constantly struggling to live in this apocalyptic world and discovering how it came to be, Rick not only has to battle the dead but others who are still alive. This series is long but always eventful with new characters constantly being introduced and graphic horror that provides a scary stimulation for the mind. If you plan on watching this show reserve a good chunk of your time...

4. Supernatural

Dean and Sam have it rough, and have an even rougher past behind them. Their mother was murdered supernaturally when they were young and ever since, they grew up with their father. He was constantly searching for answers and dedicating his life to find what killed his wife, dragging his two kids along with him. Sam and Dean grew up moving around constantly and getting wrapped up in supernatural world that they never knew existed. As their father was consumed by hunting for something that could lead to their mother’s killer, the brothers grew up without much of a childhood. Dean especially learning to mature quickly and take care of his younger brother Sam while their father was gone for prolonged periods of time. As they grew older, Sam resented the life he had lived and tried go off on his own to do what he wanted to do, but was always dragged back into his childhood lifestyle when their father went missing. Being re-introduced to the family business had soon become natural as they hunted for different creatures and tried to find their father while later trying to survive is this hidden world most knew nothing about. It became the two brothers’ job to save the unaware people that had become victim to monsters in the dark. Through a tailspin of numerous events, the brothers’ bond is tested through loyalty and family matters. I highly recommend becoming entangled in this mystical, dramatic, humorous, and adventurous TV series.

5. 90210

90210 takes place in Beverly Hills, California and originally revolves around Annie Wilson and her brother Dixon when they move to their father’s childhood home to take care of their grandmother. Being from Kansas before, it takes the two time to adjust to the lavish lifestyle of most people who live in Beverly Hills. It is a constant struggle to fit in during this television drama. But it is interesting seeing what occurs when these two teenagers are placed in a different lifestyle than they were used to and how others their age act with extreme amounts of money. This addictive TV show constantly grabs watchers attention with an ever-changing plot between money and friendships.

6. Degrassi Next Class

Degrassi Next Class, a continuation of the original series Degrassi Next Generation, is a popular Canadian drama. The show focuses on the struggle in teenagers lives throughout high school. There is always something happening in each episode; from revelations to new secrets, this series will keep you on your toes. And if you are looking for a relatively short series to binge each episode is 22 minutes long and has 10 in a season, meaning if you reserve the afternoon after school you can finish it easily, as I know from personal experience. So if you like short dramatic show about high schoolers this is for you.

7. Grey's Anatomy

Meredith Grey, the daughter of a well-known and accomplished surgeon, is following her mother’s footsteps to be a doctor and starts her internship at Seattle Grace Hospital. With the expectation to live up to her mother’s title, Meredith shows her potential to be a skilled doctor. With a budding romance and new friends, we follow the path of a future surgeon and her struggling relationship with her mother. Reading her mother’s old journals she discovers new information on her personal life and medical advances. While learning new medical terms and following the drama within the lives of multitasking medical interns, this TV series will continuously keep you entertained. And trust me, it will certainly make you feel qualified to diagnose a few family members you see next.

8. Gilmore Girls

Gilmore Girls is an uplifting TV show revolving around a mother-and-daughter relationship between Lorelai and Rory. After having a bad relationship with her own mother, Lorelai vows to never be like her, and create a bond her her daughter that she never had growing up. Lorelai ran away from her family when she was a teenager as she was pregnant, she was seen as a disgrace to her family and never agreed with them. Now an adult with Rory as a teen, Lorelai has introduced her parents to her daughter. It was part of plan Emily, Rory’s grandma, had come up with that she would provide Lorelai with the funds the send Rory to Chilton Academy. Chilton is a prestigious high school Rory deserved to go to but would have never had the chance without a certain amount of money, so Emily had offered to pay for her to go as long as they could have weekly dinners together. Lorelai and Rory’s bond is unbreakable as they go through daily life struggling between work, school, love lives, and family. In this humorous TV show, you become connected to the small town Stars Hollow which they reside and laugh at the constant bitter tension between Lorelai and Emily.

9. The Fosters

This show incorporates modern multi-cultural ideas that provides insight on several topics not everyone is familiar with in their lives. The couple Stef and Lena live with Brandon, Stef’s biological son, and twins Jesus and Mariana, who they adopted. The very welcoming family took in Callie, a foster child that came out of an abusive household, along with her brother Jude later on. With topics such as the foster care system, abuse, drugs, addiction, and a gay couple, the show bounces between many ideas cohesively. The family shows the complicated chaos that most families have, but always manage to get through it. In the worst of times family is always there whether they are related by blood or not. In this complicated drama, there is insight on many different topics not everyone has exposure to and it teaches valuable life lessons. When watching it truly demonstrates the powerful idea of family and will hook you into watching more.

10. The 100

Most recently, this is the show I’ve been watching. 100 teenagers who had been in juvenile detention back home on the “Arc” (a spaceship running out of oxygen) were sent down to Earth to see if it was habitable. Their society was up in space for 97 years after a nuclear apocalypse has wiped out most life on Earth while they were able to live in space. Now that they soon won’t be able to reside in space anymore, their one option was to send some of their people down to Earth to see if it was safe. The main character, Clarke Griffin, is the daughter of one of the counselor members and the Arc doctor, Abby Griffin. When her father had committed heresy by wanting to alert the public of the failure aboard the ship he was floated (their form of execution), ejecting criminals into space. Clarke had also been locked up after wanting to protect her father, and had been sent on the journey back to Earth with teenage criminals. In this interesting, action-packed drama you follow many delinquent teens that are placed together and have to work to survive on a planet they have never been to, as well as battle survivors who stayed on Earth. It is a very addictive show, so addictive in fact that I had to choose between whether or not to start writing this article or watch just one more episode…
