Captivating Popular Conspiracy Theories

When thoroughly analyzed, there are a vast amount of conspiracy theories that really get people thinking. Some conspiracy theories in the past have turned out to be real, but the ones that will be mentioned are probably not real.

Moon Landing

People actually believe that on July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong never landed on the moon. It is said that it was a hoax conducted by NASA and other organizations; that they used a sound-stage that was broadcasted on the television. This is claimed by many because people think that at the time, the advanced technology that was required to make a trip to the moon didn’t exist yet. To be quite frank, the United States needed the moon landing to occur desperately to strengthen their status, especially since they were in a Cold War with Russia over the moon landing. This conspiracy theory became so well-known that NASA had to step in to claim that the theory is completely absurd.

Pharmaceuticals

Many have claimed that pharmaceutical companies, because they’re profiting greatly by products many people rely on, are keeping cures for certain illnesses so that they can continue to profit off of their medicines. However, wouldn’t pharmaceutical companies and medical providers want to disclose the cures for illnesses? They would benefit much more based on their findings and cures, but then theorists suggest that they also might be hiding cures from people because they’re working with the government to keep the population controlled.

Global Warming

There’s no doubt that this conspiracy is very widely know throughout the country, and even the world. Global Warming is a theory explaining why Earth’s average temperature (atmospherically and its oceans) has been gradually increasing over the past decade(s) due to the burning of fossil fuels or deforestation. Scientists are starting to look into this theory more and more, and some have even confessed that it is probably real, and that more information is being found that continues to prove the theorem's significance. Many have strong opinions toward this, and even Leonardo DiCaprio talked about global warming in his Oscar speech. He says, “[...] climate change is real, it is happening right now, and it is the most urgent threat facing our entire species. We need to work collectively together to stop procrastinating [...]”. (I recommend listening to his entire speech, it is very moving).

Area 51/Roswell (Aliens/UFOS)

After a strange (unknown) object crashed near Roswell, New Mexico in July of 1947, hundreds of conspiracy theories emerged stating that it is an alien UFO landing place. There’s a website that actually exists that talks all about the crash and how aliens may have been or are still there. The website is http://www.roswellufomuseum.com/incident.html

Area 51 is considered the backbone of countless conspiracies for aliens and UFOs, because the government didn't even acknowledge its existence until 2003. There are various conspiracies stating that the remains of crashed UFOs are kept there, and their high technology parts are reversed-engineered by scientists.
