Perfect Pumpkin Pie
You may be wondering how to impress your family members this Thanksgiving, why not do it with the perfect pumpkin pie? This recipe is fool-proof, easy, and fun to make, and is sure to wow anyone who has a taste!
Ingredients:
3/4 cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon ½ teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground ginger ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg ¼ teaspoon ground cloves 2 large eggs 1 can (15 oz.) pure pumpkin puree 1 can (12 fl. oz.) evaporated milk 1 unbaked, pre-made 9-inch pie shell Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 425° Fahrenheit and set the rack in the middle. Place the unbaked pie shell in a heat-safe pie dish, then poke a few holes in the bottom with a fork to prevent air bubbles. You can also crimp the edges of the crust with a fork. If you want to get fancy, use a small cookie cutter to cut shapes out of another piece of pie crust, and fasten them on the edge.
Combine the sugar, cinnamon, salt, ginger and cloves in small bowl. Crack the eggs in a separate bowl to avoid getting shells in the mixture. Mix the pumpkin puree into the eggs, then add the sugar-spice mixture. Gradually stir in the evaporated milk and mix until fully incorporated. Pour the mixture into the pie shell. Bake in preheated 425° F oven for 15 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350° F; bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife inserted near center comes out clean. Cool on wire rack for 2 hours. Serve immediately or refrigerate. Top with whipped cream before serving.
Helpful Hints:
To prevent your pumpkin pie from cracking in the middle, turn your oven off a few minutes before it is done, and leave the pie in the oven for the remainder of the time. Then remove it to cool.
Make your own whipped cream by combining 1 cup of heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, and beating with an electric mixer until it becomes light and fluffy. It’s easy to make and tastes amazing!
Wait until the pie is completely cooled before digging in. A warm pie can lead to a big mess if you try to cut into it!
Have a happy Thanksgiving!
