Getting around Mount Olive High School may seem like a daunting task at first for any visitor or freshman. However, if you keep a few things in mind, you’ll soon be navigating the school like a pro. In total, there are 5 different floors and 5 different stairwells throughout the school.

Basement 1

There are two different levels to the basement. The lowest level can only be reached by stairwells A and B. There are very few classrooms on this level, so it is unlikely that you will need to go down there.

Basement 2

The upper basement floor is accessible from stairwells B, C, D, and E. On this floor some classes you will find are the science classrooms, the kitchen for “Basic Foods”, the cardio room, and the entrance to the habitat room. To know if you have a class in the basement just look at the room number on your schedule. If the first number is a 0, than that class is in the basement. The same applies to other floors. For example, room B225 is on the 2nd floor.

The First Floor

The first floor has many different classrooms as well as other places which you should be aware of. When you first walk in through the main entrance you will be in an area known as “The Commons.” On the left side of the Commons, there is attendance, the assistant principal’s office, and guidance. A bit farther down, there is a hallway that leads to the cafeteria. On the right side of the Commons, the first hallway leads to the Performing Arts Center and the second hallway leads to the music wing which also has the computer labs. There is also an entrance to the main gym. Further down the right side, there is an entrance to Mrs. Nelson’s office. On the first floor you will also find the auxiliary gym and the locker rooms. On the first floor, classrooms that start with “S” are in the science wing. This is the first hallway you will find past the A and B stairwells. You will also find the D wing which is for math classrooms.

The Second Floor

The second floor is almost completely made of classrooms. In the main square (which can be reached from the stairwells) you will find history classrooms. Continuing through the next hallway, you will find a small hall which has different art classrooms. You will know you are in the right place if you see art in the display cases. Past that hallway is the English Wing, where are the English classrooms are. The next wing is the D-wing, but this wing is above the D-wing on the first and consists of Math classrooms.

The Third Floor

The third and final floor of MOHS is only one square. The majority of these classrooms are language classes or history classrooms. This floor can only be reached by stairwells A and B.

Finding your way around MOHS can seem like an insurmountable task for any parent, visitor, or student. But by remaining patient and using this guide, soon the high school will feel like home.
