What is the P.S.A.T? It is a training test for the big test called the S.A.T, which measures math, writing and reading. On the S.A.T, scores will help you get a college to pick you for a scholarship. The P.S.A.T will not affect your grade or chances with colleges. The P.S.A.T is optional for sophomores and juniors, but it is recommended to take it so you can practice and get the feel for it.
How do you sign up? For Mount Olive students, you can sign up at the Guidance office. You can also sign up by going online to https://collegereadiness.collegeboard.org/sat. If you have a Khan Academy account you can go onto their site and go to Subjects > Test Prep > S.A.T. to prepare for the test.
What is the point of the P.S.A.T.? The point is to prepare you for the S.A.T. that you will take senior year. It gives a sense in what you need to work on and what you can keep doing. If you are a sophomore, you might be asking, “Why should I take the P.S.A.T?” You should take it to work on it the more you work on the skills the better you’ll be in senior year.
