Skeptical Sevens

As you probably already know, Apple just put out the latest iPhone. The 7/7 plus was made available mid-September here in the United States. Leading up to its release, there hadn’t been too much talk, but after three weeks, trying to order one online (let alone purchase one in an Apple store) is nearly impossible. After hearing many rumors before Apple gave out the correct details, there was a lot of speculation about how much would actually change in this model. There may not be too many drastic changes that significantly stand out, yet there are changes that require common product purchasers to step out of their comfort zone.
One very controversial feature NOT included happened to be a headphone jack to plug in your precious earbuds. Originally I thought this was ludicrous. An iPhone, let alone any phone, without a spot to plug in earbuds?! It was absolutely unheard of, but my thoughts became more reasonable upon hearing the phone came with a lightning connector that plugs in where you would usually charge your phone so you could still use your old earbuds. That brings up the issue of wanting to listen to music while charging your phone, you can’t do both at once if the adapter attaches to where you put in the charger then you risk running on the low battery you may have left or pausing those beats. Introducing wireless AirPods seems like a cool idea but maybe too soon especially for people like me who would probably lose my head if it wasn't attached to my neck, imagine small individual earbuds! And to put the icing on top of the cake they cost $159.00, certainly not reasonable to replace often. But no worries for now as AirPods will be available late October.
More additions to the appearance of the 7 involve a new advanced camera and high quality speakers that will enhance the overall experience of the phone. Yet, the most exciting part of Apple’s product for me is the two new colors they released, black and jet black finishes. The intricate process of the jet black exterior creates a sleek and polished design. With the jet black design also comes a water-resistant outside to it, however has it’s limits. There are some downfalls to this design though, this particular material happens to get scratched easier so a case would most definitely be suggested. And due to the long process in creating this design, it isn’t as mass produced as other colors, meaning if you want this type of iPhone, be prepared to wait until more become available. But, that just isn’t with the jet black finish alone, in general there are shortages of these new products due to the popularity and if you want to order them, it may take up to anywhere from two-five weeks before it comes in. With the iPhone 7 brings a longer battery life and performs at double the speed of the iPhone 6.
There are many insecurities that come with Apple’s latest phone but aren’t there hesitations with every new product? Many regular customers may resist due to uncomfortable changes, and I understand, “How could you remove the classic and convenient earbud plugin?” Yet, at least Apple was gracious enough to provide an adapter so we can listen the only way we know how. Even with many doubts I certainly won’t pass up the chance to try out the IPhone 7 this year with such interesting advances in this model excitement flows freely.
